A D 1871 Aged 80 years
Biography: Rev. P Mannion, who died 1871 aged 80 years, born 1791 Rev Mannion was a native of Keel, Ballymahon. At some stage in his priesthood he had a disagreement with the Bishop of Ardagh and was relieved of his duties. Up to the mid-20th C. the older people in Keel and Collierstown had great devotion to Fr. Mannion, and would come to get water from an Urn which stood on this plot.
Headstone in limestone, resting on a plinth, with round head, the top of the stone has suffered damage and is missing a piece on the right. (contd)
Description: Top of stone – I H S with a Cross above the H, all are enclosed in a full Sunburst, beneath in Latin “IN HOC SIGNO VINGIS” which means “In this sign you shall conquer”, beneath are 3 small floral patterns. On each shoulder there is a neo-Classical Urn in a recessed alcove with a pointed head. The epitaph, in a plain border, is in roman capitals and lower case.
At the bottom of the plot there is a low "monument" with 3 angels : No. 185
