Description: Very decorative top with beautiful carving – Roman I H S with the H surmounted by a Ionic Cross, beneath the H is a winged Cherub (symbol of the Souls ascent into Heaven), all are enclosed in a double circle – the lower half is foliated and the top bears the inscription – “Gloria in Excelsis Deo”, this in turn is enclosed in a foliated semi-circle with flowers and clover/trefoil – signifying the Holy Trinity, on the top of this semi-circle there is a multi-winged head. On each shoulder there is carved a very decorative Urn, foliage with blooms and birds spreads to the top of the stone and along the top of the inscription panel, all is surrounded by a semi-sunburst. The deeply incised “clear” lettering is in Roman capitals and script with serifs and is enclosed in a lozenge pattern border.
