THOMAS DYER
AND OF THE COAST GUARD
DEPARTED THIS LIFE ON THE 28TH OF MAY 1911
AGED 55 YEARS
TTHIS TOMB WAS ERECTED BY HIS BELOVED SON
JOSEPH DYER
he is gone and the grave has received him.
it was Jesus who called him away.
He is gone to the Lord who redeemed ?
From night ? to splendour of day
I beleive that the transcribed year of death, 1911, is in error, possibly due to wear on the inscription, and that this is the grave of my great great great grandfather, Thomas Dyer. He was Chief Officer of the Coastguard Station at Castletownshend, and died while on duty there on May 28th, 1844 at the age of 55, as verified by records found on http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk For more informaton, see https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/22579409/person/1262811...
