Notes:

In the "Historical Notes of Moore and Clonfad Parish" written by Fr Tom Rushe CC of Moore in 1942, he records.

"Fr Cane was in the parish of Moore around 1770. I was informed he was buried in Kilbegley and a small stone was placed over his grave with the initials on it FPC. I made a thorough search in the old cemetery in Kilbegley and sure enough, I came across the stone with the initials FPC on top and the date 1772 at the bottom. I have been informed he was a native of Co Mayo and was ordained at the Irish College in Rome. According to old folk he was murdered on the top of Kilbegley Hill by a family in the parish who had a grudge against him. A small cross was also erected at the top of Kilbegley Hill to point out the spot he lost his life"
