The address for this grave is Clonellan, parish of Drum.
This Kelly family relocated from Clonburren to Clonellan in the parish of Drum in the late 1820's.
Civil Record; Michael Kelly married Mary Naughten on the 15th October 1829 in St. Peters Parish, Athlone, their first daughter Mary was baptised 21st November 1830.
Civil Record; John Kelly Clonellan, son of Michael Kelly & Mary Naughten born 28th May 1836 married Ann Harney, Moore South, Moore on the 6th February 1882 in Moore Church.
John Kelly & Ann Harney were parents to 11 children; Patrick 1885-1893.
Michael Kelly, Clonellan was killed in a road traffic accident when his horse & trap collided with a lorry on the Athlone/Ballinasloe road at Johnstown on the 27th September 1934. Deceased was accompanied by his elderly mother. Both occupants were thrown from the trap & Michael Kelly was killed instantly. Mrs Kelly his mother sustained serious shock but was not otherwise injured.
Stephen Kelly son of John Kelly & Ann Harney married Ellen Naughten, Thomastown on the 18th September 1935 in Drum Church. Stephen owned a shop & pub in Mardyke St. Athlone.
Additional Information from relative; Patrick Kelly, Clonellan born 1849 son of Michael Kelly & Mary Naughton married Ellen Green, Kilcastle on the 10th February 1881 in Moore Church & they lived in Kilcastle. Patrick Kelly died 13th January 1918 aged 69 years & his wife Ellen Kelly died 14th October 1894 aged 44 years from Tubercolosis. Both were interred alongside this present Kelly Memorial.
