An extract from Dublin Evening Maiil of 23rd January 1866, states that Gustavus Brooke Longford is 'buried in Newtownforbes in the same grave with Miss Brooke, the poetess, a lady who is well known as a Celtic Scholar.
Charlotte Brooke published  'Reliques of Irsh Poetry'in 1789 and has been described as 'one of the brightest literary ornaments of this country'.
On 29th March 1793, she died of a fever while staying with friends at Moneylagan Cottage, Newtownforbes and is buried in this plot but her name was never inscribed on the memorial erected by Frances Brooke, widow of Gustavus Brooke.
