Uninscribed
In centre of graveyard. Upright slab (H.1.7M; Wth 0.94m) with ringed cross in low relief on west face, and Latin cross, partially inscribed and partially in relief, on East face. Ringed cross covers full width of slab though very short terminal outside ring on north side; terminal at tiop ends where stone broken off; shaft (L 0.61m) extends below present ground level. Width of band forming ring and cross shaft c. 0.14m. Latin cross on east face (H 1.01m; Wth 0.8m; Wth of shaft c.0.25m) formed by relatively crude hacking out of angles of cross to leave it in relief. Re-set by National Monuments and Historic Properties Service, Duchas in 1995; examination by Rose Cleary (unpublished report), (1995) presented to National Monuments and Historic Properties Service, Duchas noted plough marks on slab suggesting that it was once recumbent in nearby field. Cleary also noted that Latin cross is similar to cross incised on back of nearby gravestone and concludes that it therefore a ‘folk art’ phenomenon.
