Captain Frank Hurley.

An order was issued from the Brigade Council meeting of April 9th 1921,

directing all Battalion O/C’s to have all available bicycles collected on Tuesday 10th May and safely dumped.  In pairs, or at most in groups of three the Volunteers collected the bicycles assigned to them.

Frank Hurley along with two other volunteers were apprehended as they were about to enter Scott’s yard.

The Patterson family Carhue now live in that farm. The three prisoners were marched into Castle Bernard Park, where Captain Frank made a run to escape but was shot down in cold blood. Frank, a veteran Volunteer, Captain of the Laragh Company, was a fine soldier, and had gallantly fought with the Brigade Flying Column in many of its engagements.
