Description

On a lofty eminence, above the wood of Myross in the townland of Brade, are the remains of the church of the union, which was left to fall into decay in 1827 on the building of the new Protestant church in the townland of Listarkin. It occupied the site of the abbey De Fonte Vivo, or "the clear spring," being near the sea shore, on the south-western side of the parish. Better known as the White Church or Teampall Bán it was built following the orders of Bishop Downes to the Protestant community to abandon the Church at Myross Island circa 1700.
