Details of this bequest can be found on the plaque to this gentleman in the South Aisle (see number 846), from which the full date of death is taken,which  reads.“Thos Cozens Esq. late of Young Grove, who departed this life 27th of Novr A.D. 1783 hath bequeathed to the poor of this parish forever, the rents issuing out of the house in the main street formerly inhabited by  George Nash Esqr and now let to Mr. William Gilland at the yearly rent of eighteen pounds pr annum, forever to be distributed every St Thomas’s Day in this church by the minister & church wardens, for the time being or the majority of them. 

Hugh Swayne, Thomas Garde, Esqrs & their heirs, Trustees, Robert Ball, executor. He that hath pity on the poor lendeth unto the Lord, & look what he layeth out shall be paid him again.”
