Sacred to the memory of William Drury, son of Jasper Drury of Youghal. He was accidentally killed by a fall from the Belle Alp in Switzerland on the eleventh day of August 1874 aged 44 years. His fellow townsmen and friends have erected this monument as a testimony to his useful and unselfish public life, as well as to those personal virtues which endeared him to a large circle of friends, who deplore his untimely end, not only as a private loss but as a public calamity.
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widow in their affliction and to keep himself unspoiled from the world. James c 1v.xxv11.
