In memory of John Drew Esq. of Ballydeffe House and Mocollup Castle Co.Waterford, of Meanus Co. Kerry, second son of Barry Drew Esq. of Drew’s Court Co. Limerick, ob Anno Dom 1747. Vir principirus, nobilus, equitibusque, quibus haud indignus fuit, ortus.

Also of Margaret his wife, daur and sole heiress of Francis Drew Esq. of Meanus aforesaid (who fought at Athlone & Aughrim) and of Rebecca his wife, daur  & co-heiress of Samuel Pomeroy Esq. Of the illustrious, noble and knightly family of De La Pomeroy of Berry-Pomeroy Castle, Co. Devon.

The Revd Pierce William Drew A.B. great-great-grandson of said Francis &Rebecca was Rector of Youghal during many years; a faithful preacher of the Gospel, the restorer of this church & in his seventy second year A.D. 1871, resigned the incumbency. He died Feb 14 1885. Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
