Thomas Dineley's "Observations on a journey" 1681 has a half-page sketch of the tomb and the inscription described thus: "D.O.M. Domino Petro Miagh, civi consuli praetori yogholensi iustituiae cultori pietatis aman, publicae utilitatis zelatori,marito suo unice dilecto uxor Philisia Nagle, moesta posuit sumptibus viri. Petra tegit petri cineres animanam petra Christus sic fibi divinit utraque Petra Petrum. Vixit annis XLIII vita functus VIII Kal Aug M.D.C.XXXIII.Pray for the founders hereof Piers Miagh FitzJames of Yoghall Alderman and Phillis Miagh als Nagle his onely wife who made this monument for their last lodging in this world."
