Sacred to the memory of Samuel Hillard Esqr late Captain in the Royal Navy who departed this life on the 28th day of January 1848 aged 57 years leaving a disconsolate Widow and family to deplore his loss sent to this country as Inspecting Officer of the district in the awful famine with which it was afflicted in the years 1847 and 1848 He struggled with ardent benevolence to relieve the intense misery that surrounded him and fell a victim to Fever caught in the discharge of his duty Write Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth Rev. 14.13
