Kilkenny,/ who fell asleep in Jesus/ October 7th 1844, aged 38./ Also his youngest son THOMAS,/ who died April 24th 1841 aged 9 months,/ and his youngest daughter CATHERINE MARY,/ who died March 24th 1845 aged 9 1/2 months;/ also in memory/ of DORETHEA, widow of the above,/ who fell asleep in Jesus/ August 19th 1897, aged 78/ and EDMUND their eldest son/ who died of sunstroke near New-York,/ June 28th 1876, aged 37./ Erected by their sorrowing and last child/ SOPHIA/'Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in thee.'

Mural plaque comprising a black-marble ground in the form of a shield onto which is fixed a cartouche of arms and an inscription tablet in white marble. The heraldic shield at the top is the Butler coat of arms with their motto on a scroll beneath: 'COMME JE TROUVE'. The inscribed panel is in the form of an outrolled parchment.
