The graveyard is in rural area, located on a modern stud farm.
Graveyard contains ruins of church, marked on 1841 OS map as 'Tankardstown Church (in ruins)'. The measurements of the ruins are approx. 12m by 6m; it is composed of coursed limestone blocks with traces of dividing segmental arch; placed in centre of graveyard. Also associated: holy well.
Graveyard contains headstones in generally poor condition; many overgrown, leaning and damaged; all relatively easily accessible graves date to the 19th and 20th century.
Graveyard has rectangular shape measuring approx. 30m north-south by 47m east-west; boundary stone wall severely overgrown. No paths within enclosure; access via gate and stile. Ground surface uneven and overgrown. Ground level within graveyard is higher than that without.
