Notes:

Father Neil Kevin was a prolific writer. ‘I Remember Maynooth’, published in 1937, under the pseudonym  Donn Boyne, was a series of essays which dealt with various aspects of College life. In 1944 he wrote ‘I Remember Karrigeen’, which was acclaimed for its cameo pictures of his native Templemore.

‘No Applause in Church’ was published in 1947. John Betjeman, the Poet Laureate, said it was worth reading three times, once for the soundness of its advice on how to live, once for the brevity and gracefulness of the essays and finally for the effect of content and style combined. ‘Out of Nazareth’, a collection of essays on reading and interpreting the gospels was published in 1953.

‘I Remember Neil Kevin (1903 – 1953) An assessment of his life and of his writings’, by Liam Maher, a collection of memories of Father Kevin, priest, writer and lecturer, was published in 1990.
