Departed this life on the 18th of May 1839 in the 40th year of his age,

Samuel Rothwell Esquire of Dingle. In his death the poor have lost a kind friend who ever attentive to their wants,

and it was on a mission of charity to his place that he was called to give up his spirit to God who gave it.

This stone is erected as a testimony of her affection by his wife Elizabeth Rothwell.
