Denis O'Brien was the first principal of Garrydoolis National  School. He died, a bachelor, aged 56 of bronchitis at Ballyneety, Templebredon, Co. Limerick on the 2nd May 1893. Informant of his death was his sister Bridget Crowe, wife of William Crowe of Rossadrehid, Bansha, Co. Tipperary.
