John Hogan 1832-1925, who had this memorial erected, was the son of Denis Hogan 1802-1885 ( recorded here ). John Hogan married Johanna Treacy 1829-1897. Their children included Denis Hogan 1863-1939, Mary Anne 1865-1890 ( recorded here ), Edmond 1868 -1883 ( recorded here) & Julia Anne 1871-1894.
Denis Hogan 1863-1939, married Margaret Cunningham (1864 - ), daughter of Terrence Cunningham & Bridget Ryan of Ballybrood, Caherconlish, Co. Limerick on the 27th Jan 1897 in St. Michaels RC, Limerick City. Children born to them included Edmond Hogan 1898, Johanna 1899, Terence 1901-1960, John 1903, Bridget 1 John905 & Mary Anne 1910.
The youngest Mary Anne Hogan b. 1910, married John Farrell, a cattle dealer, b.1905 in Seffin, Birr, Co. Offaly to parents Edward Farrell & Lizzie Horan, on the 23rd Jan 1940 in St Josephs RC, Limerick City.
Terence Hogan 1901-1960 inherited the family farm in Knockalegan. He married Mary Anne Neylon, daughter of Thomas Neylon, in Ennis Cathedral, Co. Clare on the 23rd Jun 1943. Mary Anne's address at the time of her marriage was recorded as Tubber, Co. Clare. Their daughter, Esther Anne Hogan was born in 1944.
Terence Hogan 1901-1960, died of Parkinsons Disease on the 14th Oct 1960 and his widow and daughter moved back to Co. Clare and sold the Hogan family farm in Knockalegan. It was purchased by Denis Fitzgerald 1913-1988, of Garrydoolis, who is interred at memorial 0004 in this cemetery. The 80 acre farm was sold by the Fitzgerald family in May 2022 for 1.215 million euros.
