Daniel  Grace  1896-1953,  son  of  William  Grace 1845-1919  &  Bridget  McCormack  1856-1909 ( of adjacent  memorial  0011),  married  firstly,  Sarah  Quirke 1901-1928, daughter  of  Patrick  Quirke  & Katie  McLoughlin  of  Toem,  Cappawhite,  Co. Tipperary  on  the  23rd  Feb  1927  in  St  Josephs  RC,  Limerick  City. They  had  one  son  William  ( Liam )  Grace  1928-2016  ( recorded  here )  but  interred  in  St. Columba's  cemetery  in  Pallasgreen,  Co. LimerickHis  mother  Sarah  died  of  blood  poisoning  on  the  27th  Mar 1928.

Daniel  Grace  1896 - 1953,  remarried  to  Mary  Peters  1902-1973,  daugter  of  John  Peters  Mary  McGrath  of  Gurtavoher,  Aherlow,  Co. Tipperary  on  the  11th  Feb  1931  in  Thurles  Cathedral,  Co.  TipperaryChildren  born  to  them  at  Garrydoolis, Templebredon  included  Bridget  ( Brid )  Grace  1937-2022,  John  Patrick  ( Sean )  1939-2004  ( of  nearby  memorial  0003 ),  Michael  1940-1984  ( recorded  here )  &  Mary  1942.  Sean  Grace  1974-2001 ( recorded  herewas  the  son  of  Michael  Grace  1940- 1984.

Daniel  ( Dan )  Grace  1896-1953, took  an  active  part  in  the  War  of  Independence  and was  an  adjutant  in  the  Doon  Battalion  and  was  a  member  of  the  East  Limerick  Flying  Column .  He  took  part  in  nearly  every  action  of  note  in  East  Limerick . He was  on  the  anti-treaty  side  during  the  Civil  War  and  participated   in  a  number  of  incidents.  He  was  captured  in  Kilmallock  in  early 1923  and  was  interned  in  Gormanstown  for  seventeen   months, before  being  released  in  August  1924.  He  then went  back  to  work  on  the  family  farm.  In  the  early  1950’s, his  health  began  to  fail  and  he  developed  heart  trouble.  His  sisters,  Mary  Kate  1899-1958  &  Bridget  (Ciss)  Grace  1901-1967, were  active  members  of  the  Templebredon  branch  of  Cumann  na  mBan.

The  obituary  of  Liam  Grace  1928-2016  reads  as  follows :

The  death  has  occurred  of  Liam  Grace  of  Garrydoolis,  Pallasgreen,  Co. Limerick  on  the  5th  Feb  2016.

 Peacefully  at  home.  Brother  of  the  late  Michael  and  John.  Deeply  regretted  by  his loving  wife  Julia  ( Síle ), son  Daniel  Pio,  daughter  Nóirín  ( Quirke ),  sisters  Bríd  ( Uí Ógáin )  and  Mary,  son-in-law  John,  brothers-in-law,  sisters-in-law,  nephews,  nieces, relatives,  neighbours  and  friends.

Reposing  at  Whelan’s  Funeral  Home,  Bansha  Road, Tipperary  this  Saturday  evening from  5pm  with  removal  at  7pm  to  The  Church  of  St. John  the  Baptist,  Nicker, Pallasgreen.  Funeral  Mass  on  Sunday  at  11.30 am  and  burial  afterwards  in  St. Columba’s   cemetery,  Pallasgreen.

The  obituary  of  Bridget  ( Brid )  Grace  1937-2022  reads  as  follows :

The  death  has  occurred  of  Bríd  Uí  Ógáin  (née)  Grace  ofClondalkin,  Dublin  &  formerly  of  Garrydoolis,  Pallasgreen,  Co.  Limerick  on  the  24th Jan  2022.  Peacefully  in  the  company  of  her  loving  husband  and  kind  and  gentle  care  of  Padre Pio  Nursing  Home,  Clondalkin  following  a  long  illness;  beloved  wife  of  Éamonn, much  loved  mother  of  Cúán,  Dónall,  Ruairí,  Máire Aoibhinn  and  Fionnán;  and  also sadly  missed  by  her  sister  Mary,  grandchildren,  nephews,  nieces,  brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law,  relatives,  neighbours  and  friends.

Reposing  at  the  Brian  McElroy  Funeral  Home,  Monastery  Road,  Clondalkin  Village, on  Thursday  from  4pm  to  6pm  only. Funeral  Mass  on  Friday  at  11:30 am  in  the Church  of  The  Immaculate  Conception,  Clondalkin.  Burial  on  the  following  day Saturday  in  Bruff  cemetery,  Co  Limerick  ( beside  Church  of  St.  Peter  and  Paul  at  12 noon.
