"On Monday a.m. aged 52 years of a tedious and painful illness which he bore with the fortitude and resignation of a Christian, Michael Browne Esq. of Woodstock, in Co. Mayo and late Major in the South Mayo Regiment of Militia. Mr. Browne possessed the most amiable and engaging manners - and as a father and a Mend, has left after him a character which will live long in the recollection of his numerous and respectable acquaintances".
