The Galway Mercury. February 10th. (1855). "Death of Captain Richardson R.N." Inspecting Commander of the Coastguards. "He was a native of Scotland and of the Presbyterian sect, but became a member of the Catholic Church since his arrival here." He was buried in St. Nicholas' among "...crowds for surpassing those which we have ever observed attending the burial of any other stranger for a series of years past".
