CO-CRCH-0271

Record Date:

Exact wording of epitaph:

A Virtuous Woman is a Crown to her Husband
Her Price is far above Rubies

Sacred
to the Memory of
Mrs MARY MANSERGH
Wife of JOHN SOUTHCOTE MANSERGH
of Greenane in the County of Tipperary Esq.
and only Child
of RICHARD MARTIN Esq
of Clifford in this Parish.
She yielded up her Soul to her Creator
in humble Hope of a glorious Immortality
on the 3rd day of September 1811
in the 37th year of her Age.
Her Ashes are entombed beneath.
She was
a dutiful Child
a loving Wife
a tender Mother
a kind Mistress
a faithful Friend
and to crown all
a Sincere Christian
Her disconsolate Parents who alas Survived
caused this Monument to be erected
in mournful Remembrance of
the dearest Object of their Affections.
MARY, farewell, thy Friends then bade adieu
To all on Earth most loved when loving you
The young, the old, the Serious and the gay
Alike to thee their mournful Tribute pay
For each hath lost in thy untimely End
A dear Companion and respected Friend
E'en more than Friend departed with thy Life
A duteous Daughter and unerring Wife
And if there be a Name than these more blest
A Mother too, the fondest wisest best
O May thy Virtues in thy Children shine
So shall the proudest Monument be, Mary, thine.
