This east facing limestone ledger slab is square top and measures 7ft2in x 3ft6in x 5in. There is a fracture line splitting the stone just above mid way. The script on the ledger is incised Roman lettering and it has a christogram at the top with cross and heart carved in relief under a sunburst arc. The mason has been economical with space for lettering using abbreviations and a symbol resembling an inverted winged V for the word 'and' on the second last line. At the bottom of the stone there is a simply incised plough indicating John Hanly was a farmer.Whilst no address was given on the grave for John Hanly, the parish death register gives the address of Tooreeney, Moycullen for John Hanly when he died in 1807.
