PRAY FOR THE SOVLE
OF PAtrick[???] OM
VLOVNY AND HIS SO
N JOHN OMVLOVNY
1686
Measuring 6ft2in x 2ft5in x 4in, this limestone recumbant slab faces east and is one of three inscribed seventeenth century markers in the tSean Reilig. All three bare the date 1686 so it may refer more to date of erection rather than date of death.
The stone has a coarse occupational symbol showing an image of a ship emblazoned on an elaborate ringed cross with a stepped Calvary base. The cross terminals are expanded in serif form. The inscription is carved in relief. A small IHS monogram with a cross typical of the seventeenth century is located above the cross head.
