Notes:
The east facing square top limestone slab measures 7ft x 3ft6in x 6in and has roman style incised script.  There is a christogram with cross and heart at the top of the stone, carved in relief under a sunburst arc.
Masons sometimes appear to have been economical with space for lettering, ie using abbreviations - in this case the ly in Coneely is in superscript.
No date of death is inscribed for Catherine. This could be an example of a cost saving exercise, inscription ahead of need, ie on the death of Edmund, his spouse’s name was inscribed in advance of her demise leaving just the date and age to be inserted at the appropriate time. It remaining blank in this instance could have been oversight by the family or for reasons such as the possibility that she outlived her family, maybe even remarried.
The inscription on this stone is very worn in places so Edmund's date and year of death, also his age, are not entirely certain with transcriptions varying from 1833/1855. Date may read 8th April and an age of 58 years
