PRAY FOR THE SOUL
OF FRANCIS MDONOV

RINE MDONOVGH AL
IAS [...ANE] ꙋ THE
IR POSTERITY 1759
This heavily lichen affected square topped limestone slab, faces east, and measures 6ft3ins(H) x 3ft1ins(W) x 3ins(D). The inscription is incised Roman lettering in capitals, under a christogram carved in false relief - the christogram is intersected by a Maltese cross/Cross of Arcs. The mason was unconcerned about bad practice of splitting words over separate lines, used a v for a u, and also used abbreviation for space saving such as the symbol ꙋ for the word 'and'. The date 1759 could indicate either the year of their death or the year of memorial erection
