This east facing large limestone headstone measures 4ft2ins(H) x 2ft4½ins(W) x 4ins(D). The inscription is Roman lettering and at the top, carved in relief, is an IHS Christogram intersected by a Cross. The mason was unconcerned about the bad practice of splitting words over separate lines and using abbreviations. The word Alias is spelt as Alies. It would also appear that the mason ran out of space when writing the word 'peace' and didn't split it and continue onto the next line. There is extensive lichen on the headstone. 
Although Edmund's address is not marked on the stone, it is noted from local family history that he was from the townland of Ballinahallia.
