Beneath this stone are deposited the

mortal remains of the Revd John

Clarke who departed this life the

1st day of Dec 1820 aged 76 years

He laboured above half of Cavan in the

Ministry of the Church of

England 44 years of which he

was rector of this Parish

A man of simple and unaffected

manner of whom it may be justly

said that he never lost a friend

or made a foe

This tomb has been erected as a

tribute of grateful affection to a

kind and indulgent parent by

his son Robert Clarke
