Daniel   O’Connell   (1879-1964),  married    NS   teacher    Elizabeth   O’Mahony    (1880-1910)  in   Emly   RC   on  the   25-07-1906.  Daniel  was  a  hotel  clerk  at  the  time  of  his  marriage.   He  later  went   on  to  be  a  postman ,   shopkeeper  and   publican.   Daniel   O’Connell   had   a   son    Jeremiah   (Jerry)   O’Connell   (1908-1985)   from   his   first   marriage.

 In  1926,   sixteen   years   after  the  death   of   his  first  wife   Elizabeth,   Daniel   O’Connell   (1879-1964)  remarried   to    Mary   Kate   Birrane   (1892-1981),  daughter   of    Thomas   Birrane   and   Hanora    Fitzgerald   of    Park ,   Galbally ,   Co.  Limerick  and   sister   of   Emly   shopkeeper   Gerald    Birrane   (1890-1973).

Daniel   O  Connell    &   Mary   Kate   Birrane   had  the  following   children ,   Thomas   O’Connell   1927-2015,   Daniel  (Donie) 1928-2001,  Mary   Anthony   1930 - 2025,  Paschal   1932 -2020,  Ailbe  1935-2020  &   Noel   1938-1996.

Noel   O’  Connell   (1938-1996)  married   Nora   Kenny . Noel   was   interred   at   memorial  number   0657.

Daniel   O’Connell   (1928-2001), known  as  Donie ,  derived   from    Donal ,  the  Gaelic  for  his  Christian   name,  was   a   bachelor   and  an  Emly  publican.   He  was  interred   with  his  mother,    Mary   Kate  O’Connell ,  nee   Birrane   (1892-1981)  at   memorial   number    0007.

Thomas   ( Tom )   O’Connell   (1927-2015)  married   Ann   May   Gaffney.   He  had  a  pub  in  Douglas   St.   Cork   and   was   living  in   Ballinlough,    Cork   when   he  died  there  on  the   02-11-2015.   He   was  interred   in   St.  Michael’s  cemetery   in   Blackrock ,  Cork   on   Wednesday   04-11-2015.  Tom’s   children   were   Geraldine   O’Connell ,   Bernadette ,   Donal ,   Paul   &   Deirdre.

Paschal O'Connell (1932-2020) , in his 88th year died on the 27-02-2020 and was interred in Emly's new cemetery on Sunday the 01-03-2020. At the time of his death, he was survived by his wife Philomena, daughter Katie, sons Danny, Mike & Paschal and by his siblings Mary Anthony & Ailbe.

Ailbe O'Connell (1935-2020) , of Ballyroan, Dublin, died on the 06-06-2020 and was interred in Mount Venus cemetery in Rathfarnham, Dublin on Tuesday the 09-06-2020. He was predeceased by his daughter Ailbhe who died on the 20-12-2011. At the time of his death, Ailbe was survived by his wife Anna, by sons Gareth & Patrick O'Connell and by daughter Mary Kate and by his sister Mary Anthony.

Ailbe's sibling, Mary Anthony ( Toni ) Ryan, nee O'Connell 1930-2025 of Lough, Crosspatrick, Co. Kilkenny died in her 95th year on the 20th Mar 2025 having been predeceased by her husband Jim Ryan, a retired publican, on the 9th Jan 2024. Her obituary reads as follows :

The death has occurred of Toni Ryan ( née ) O’Connell of Lough, Crosspatrick, Co. Kilkenny and Sacred Heart Nursing Home, Crosspatrick  March 20th 2on025 peacefully in her 95th year in the presence of her family at St. Luke's Hospital, Kilkenny.

Predeceased by her husband Jim, parents Danny and Mary-Kate O'Connell of Emly, Co. Tipperary and her brothers Jerry, Tom, Donie, Paschal, Ailbe and Noel.
Sadly missed by her adored family, Mary, Anne and Tom, sons-in-law Cyril and Richard, daughter-in-law Áine, grandchildren Domhnall and Conor, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and extended family

Reposing at Doyle's funeral home Urlingford, Co. Kilkenny on Saturday evening March 22nd. 2025 from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock followed by removal to St. Michael's Church Crosspatrick arriving at 8.30. Requiem Mass on Sunday at 2pm followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery.

Margaret   O’Connell   (1873-1958),  older  sister   of   Daniel   O’Connell   (1879-1964),  married   Co.   Carlow   native ,  Michael   Murphy   in   Knocklong   RC ,   Co.  Limerick   on   the   23-11-1904.   Michael   was   a  farm   steward   at   Ryves    Castle ,  Knocklong ,  Co.  Limerick.   They  had   no   family.
