Wife of Pat Whelan of Garrydoolis, Templebredon parish, Co. Limerick and sister of John Heffernan 1935-2006  at memorial  0028.

Elizabeth ( Lizzie )  Whelan, nee Heffernan  1936-2010  was born in Lisobyhane, Emly, Co. Tipperary  to parents Michael  Heffernan  1912-1972  &  Margaret  Leahy 1911-1936. Lizzie's father,  Michael  Heffernan remarried to Ellen ( Nellie ) O' Mahony 1910-1970, daughter  of  Terence  O'Mahony  & Mary Tynan  of Boolard, Milltown, Shandrum, Co. Cork on the 8th Nov 1939 in Emly RC, Co. Tipperary.

Margaret  Leahy 1911-1936 was born in Carrigkettle, Kilteely, Co. Limerick to parents John Leahy 1877-1957 &  Johanna  Ryan 1874-1955, who later moved to Duncummin, Emly, Co. Tipperary.  Margaret  died aged 25 of heart disease.

Anne  Houlihan, nee Whelan 1971-2023, a daughter of Elizabeth ( Lizzie )  Whelan  1936-2010  died on  the 15th Jan 2023 and was interred in Emly's new cemetery on Tues 17th Jan. Her obituary reads as follows :

Anne Houlihan ( née)  Whelan, The Mews, Tipperary & formerly of Emly Co. Tipperary,  died 15th January 2023. Predeceased by her parents Pat & Elizabeth.

Deeply regretted by her daughters Sophie & Lillian & their father Ken & their grandmother Bridget  Houlihan, brother Denis (Tipperary), sisters Margaret (Mullingar), Mary-Ellen (Tipperary), relatives, neighbours & friends.

Anne’s funeral cortège will arrive at St. Ailbe’s Church, Emly, Co. Tipperary, on Tuesday morning 17th Jan at 11.15am for 11.30am Mass. Burial afterwards in the adoining new cemetery.

NB. Anne  worked as a midwife at the South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.
