Believed to be the grave of the Brennan family of Kilmurry. Matt was the eldest son and his younger brother Thomas (Burke) is also buried here. It is also likely their parents Thomas and Ellen were buried here too. Matt's birth year is incorrect on the headstone as he was born in 1909. Matt's younger brother was known locally as Burke which was his mothers maiden name.

The 1911 census shows Matt aged 2 with a newborn sister named Bridget. Two other children listed as having died in the previous 5 years are also mentioned.

Thomas and Ellen were married on January 1 1906. Thomas was a native of Kilmurry while Ellen was working as a servant in Kilfinane when they married. Her father was Mathew Burke. Their witnesses were Patrick Carey (probably a Kilmurry Carey) and a relative of Ellen's named Bridget Burke.
