This commemorative headstone was erected by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission  who have undertaken to honour all those who lost their lives while serving the Commonwealth during the 1st.World War ,1914-1918. Families were contacted in the period 1920-1922 regarding these headstones and were invited to include an epitaph of their choice .The emblem and wording are standard for these type of headstones all over the world.

It is unclear if P.Kirby died from injuries received in action or an illness,he died in Fargo Hospital in Salsbury in England and his remains were brought home for burial somewhere in an unmarked grave in this cemetery. His place of origin is currenrly uncertain also.
