George was grandson of George Bolster(senior)of Curraghbower  and was born in 1838. He studied medicine,entered the Royal Navy in 1861  and became Deputy Inspector General of Hospitals and Fleet of the Royal Navy. He retired in 1861 to Springville ,Kanturk and became a Peace Commissioner.He had a great interest in local history and wrote a very interesting article on the effects of the famine in North Cork as he experienced it as a young boy.
