second and dearly beloved son
of
Bartholomew & Catherine O' Keeffe
of Charleville
who
in the midst of a most brilliant, glorious
and singularly successful career
was struck down by a cruel deadly sickness
in the flower of his age
after three years and upward of
pains and sufferings
borne with an heroic fortitude
he calmly and prously expired
on the 1st January 1879
aged 26 years and 7 months
his untimely demise was a source
of the most poignant grief and
severe bereavement
to his fond parents
but in their afflection they feel
no small consolation in reflecting
he has found a grave
here with his own
and not beneath the parched sandy plains
of India
