Thomas  O’Dwyer  (1868-1943)  and  his  siblings  James   (1872-1946)  &  Michael  (1870-1952)  of this memorial  were  children  of  John O’Dwyer  & Catherine  (Kate)  Carroll  (1836-1914) , who was a widow in both the 1901 & 1911 census.

Mary Murphy  (nee O’Dwyer) 1907-1955,  daughter of  James O’Dwyer  (1872-1946)  &  Anne    Hackett  married  John  Murphy  (1900-1978) in Emly RC on the 05-01-1929.Their children included Patrick ( Paddy ) Murphy 1930-1997 of memorial 0474, James ( Jimmy )  1933-1997 of 0663, Alice B  1934-2007 of 0500, John ( Johnny ) 1936-2015 & Nancy 1938-1991 who is interred in Emly's new cemetery. John ( Johnny ) Murphy 1936-2015 is interred in St Columba's cemetery, Pallasgrean, Co. Limerick. His obituary reads as follows :

Death of John ( Johnny ) Murphy , 9 Cannon Lee Park, Pallasgreen,Co. Limerick & late of Emly Co Tipperary on the 12th January 2015. Peacefully at University Hospital Limerick.

Deeply regretted by his loving wife Nellie, son Timmy, daughters Mary & Margaret, sons in law, daughter in law, brother's in Law, sister's in law, grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives & friends. Reposing at his daughters home  in Moymore, Pallasgreen on this Wednesday evening from 6pm  to 8pm .Removal Thursday morning to Nicker Church for 11.30 Mass.Burial afterwards in St Columba's cemetery.

James  O’Dwyer  (1872-1946)  married  Anne  Hackett , daughter  of  John  Hackett  of   Clashdrumsmith , Emly   on  the  03-09-1906  in  Emly   RC.

Their  children  included  Catherine  O’Dwyer  1906-1974,  Mary  1907-1955,  John   1909-1956,  James  1911-1965,  Margaret   1912-1998,   Timothy 1914-1915,   Thomas 1915-1972  &  Patrick  (Paddy) 1921-1995.

Mary O'Dwyer 1907-1955, married  John Murphy 1900-1978, son of John Murphy & Mary Dwyer of Monemore, Emly on the 5th Jan 1929 in Emly RC, Co. Tipperary

James O'Dwyer (1911-1965), married  Bridget  Ellis (1912-1960),  daughter of  Michael Ellis (1858-1936) & Margaret Mason (1873-1954) of Killeenagallive, Rodus, Co. Tipperary on the 06-09-1931 in Templebredon RC, Co. Limerick. Their son, James (Sonny) O'Dwyer (1931-1993) was interred in Templebredon cemetery, Co. Limerick

Margaret  O’Dwyer  (1912-1998)  married  John  (Jack)  Barry  (1910-1992), son  of  Patrick  Barry   &   Mary  Dawson  of  Ardrahan , Galbally , Co. Limerick. 

 Jack  Barry , assisted   by   local   Emly  students   on  the  Summer  Jobs   Scheme  and  other  volunteers,  recorded  the  inscriptions  for  the  book , The  Gravestone   Inscriptions  of   Emly,  which  was  published   in  1993.  

Both  Jack  Barry  (1910-1992)  &  his  wife  Margaret  O’Dwyer   (1912-1998)  are   interred  in  the  new  cemetery  in  Emly.
