Mary Hayes , born in Emly in 1857, to parents John Hayes , a nailor and Mary Walsh , married cattle drover John Keating , son of Patrick Keating , in Emly RC on the 01-07-1883. Their daughter , Mary Keating was only 3 days old when she died in March 1887.
The 1901 census for Emly village records that John Keating was born in Doon , Co. Limerick. His death record states that he was aged 55 and married when he died in Emly on the 13-10-1916.
John Hayes , born in Emly in 1860, was a younger brother of Mary Keating , nee Hayes (1857 -1923) . He was also a nailor. He married Margaret Hayes and their children included John Hayes 1896, James 1898, Thomas 1900 , Patrick (Pake) 1903-1976, Mary 1905 & William 1907.
Patrick (Pake ) Hayes 1903-1976 married Catherine Meskill ( 1892 - 1972 ), daughter of John Meskill & Mary McNamara of Millmount , Kilmallock on the 09-02-1926 in Kilmallock RC, Co. Limerick.
Their children were Paddy Hayes 1928 -1988 and Mary Hayes 1930 -2009 who had a sweet shop in Emly. The shop was structurally damaged by a lorry when Mary was the proprietor and ceased trading.
William Hayes (1870-1925), recorded at memorial number 0471, was a brother of Mary Keating, nee Hayes (1857- 1923 ) and John Hayes (1860- ) recorded at this memorial .
