NB.  James  Stephen  Lonergan   (1897- 1973), youngest   son  of  Ailbe  Lonergan   &   Mary   Farrell , married   Ellen  (Nellie)  Troy  (1904-1970),  daughter   of   Stephen Troy  (1881-1966)   &  Anastasia   Ryan  (1878-1923)   of  Ballygammane,  Rahelty , Co.   Tipperary  in Thurles  Cathedral on the 20-07-1927.

 Ailbe  (Bebe)   Lonergan    1928-1946  was  their   eldest   child. 

Their daughter Joan Lonergan 1934-1985, married Leslie Joseph Lynch  1935-1985, son of Garda James Lynch & his wife Annie Tobin. Both Joan & her husband Leslie, died in a car accident in England on the 20th Jul 1985. They are interred in Emly's new cemetery. Their son Patrick Joseph ( PJ) was seven years old  at the time of  his parents deaths and was subsequently raised by his aunt Christina  ( Ina ) O'Toole, nee Lonergan, in Drumsally, Cappamore, Co. Limerick.

Another  son , Martin   Lonergan  (1932-2012)  and  his  wife  Joan , nee  Scully  are  interred  in  the  new  cemetery  in  Emly.   

Their  daughter   Elizabeth   ( Betty)   1942-2011  is  interred   at  this  burial   plot.

Their  daughter ,  Theresa  Steed  ( nee  Lonergan ) ,  died  in  Kent ,  UK  in  Sept  2012,

 Their  son  Timothy  John  Lonergan ( Timmy ),  aged  75 years,  died  on  the  11th  August  2016 in  Watford, UK .  He was  cremated  on  Friday  26th  August  2016  at  West  Herts  Crematorium,  High  Elms  Lane, Watford. 

Their son  James  S  lonergan , (1938-2021) of Riverside, Emly village, died on the 21-01-2021 and was interred  at this memorial on Sunday 24-01-2021. He was survived at the time of his death by his wife Breda, nee O'Toole, son James, daughter-in-law Michelle  and by his sibling  Ina. His funeral took place during Covid 19 restrictions.

Their daughter Christina  ( Ina )  O'Toole, nee Lonergan 1945-2023, died on the 5th Aug 2023 and is interred in Emly's new cemetery. Her obituary reads as follows :

O’Toole, (nee Lonergan), Christina ( Ina ) Drumsally, Cappamore, Co. Limerick and formerly of Emly, Co. Tipperary. Adored wife and mother, passed away peacefully on 5th August 2023 at the University Hospital Limerick surrounded by her loving family.

Predeceased by her parents and family. Deeply regretted by her devoted and loving husband Tom, children Ellen, Katrina, Martina and P.J and P.J's  partner Eilis, sons-in-law Robert Holmes and Bryan Regan, grandchildren, granddaughter Grace, grandsons Dylan, Jack, Robbie, David, Brian and Charlie, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends.

Reposing at her home Drumsally on Friday, 11th August, from 4 to 8 p.m. Arrival on Saturday, 12th August, to St. Michael’s Church, Cappamore, for Requiem Mass at 11.30 a.m. and burial afterwards in Emly cemetery.

Siblings   of   James   Lonergan   (1897-1973)  were   Johanna   Lonergan  1890,  Ailbe  Lonergan   1892-1981, ( married   Bridget  Mitchell  1899-1984)  &   John   Lonergan  1895 -1980 , ( married   Mary  O’Reilly  1896-1944).
