NB. Simon  Kennedy   is  recorded  in  Griffiths  Valuation  for  the  townland  of  Bartoose,  Emly, Co. Tipperary.

His  daughter,  Ellen  Kennedy , born  1844 and who had this memorial erected,  married carpenter Timothy  O’Mahony  1838-1888 in   Emly  RC  on  the  11-02-1871.  

Their children  included   Brian   O’Mahony   1872,  Simon  1874,  John  1876 -1913,  Ailbe  1878 -1952   &   James  1882. 

Death  of  Timothy  O’ Mahony,   Emly, Co. Tipperary  a  carpenter,  aged  50,  on  the  18-06-1888 due to tuberculosis.

Sons  of  Simon  Kennedy included  John  1841-1891   &   James   b. 1846.

Ailbe O'Mahony 1878-1952, also a carpenter, married Julia Cleary 1888-1968, daughter of James Cleary y & Johanna Walsh of Knocklong, Co. Limerick in Knocklong RC, Co. Limerick on the 24th June 1925.

Their children included  Ellen ( Eileen ) O' Mahony 1925-2023, Mary 1927, James 1928-1928, Timothy (Thade) 1931 & Johanna ( Joan ) 1934-2020.

Johanna  ( JoanBurns, nee O' Mahony 1934-2020 died on the 8th Aug 2020. Her husband Edmond ( Ned ) Burns died on the 17th Jul 2007, aged 80 yrs. Joan's obituary reads as follows :

The death has occurred of Joan Burns ( née O Mahony)  of Ballynagleragh, Lattin,  Co.Tipperary on the 8th Aug 2020.

Joan,in the tender care of the staff at St.Clares ward,St.Patricks Hospital, Cashel, Co. Tipperary. Deeply regretted by her loving family, her sons Ned, Ailbe, Paddy  & Jack, her daughters, Nora Toomey, Sheila Burns & Mary Feane, sons-in-law and daughters-in-law, grand-children, great-grand-child  Eve, relatives, kind neighbours and many friends especially her good friend Kevin O Donnell.

Funeral Mass on Sunday 9th August in The Church of The Assumption, Lattin . Co. Tipperary at 11 am with burial afterwards in the old Cemetery, Lattin.

Her sister  Ellen ( Eileen ) Kelly, nee O'Mahony 1925-2023 died on the 21st June 2023. Her obituary reads as follows :

The death has occurred of Eileen Kelly ( née O'Mahony ) of  Dublin & Emly, Co.Tipperary on Wednesday, 21st June 2023, peacefully in her 98th year. Predeceased by her much loved husband Patrick.

Surrounded by her loving family and the nursing and care staff of Elm Green Nursing Home, including her special carers Suzanne and Catherine, to whom we wish to extend our sincere thanks.

Eileen's life as a courageous, caring and humorous person was celebrated by her family in a private family funeral on Monday, 26th June 2023 in Glasnevin Cemetery following her excellent care with Robin Cunningham  of Cunninghams Funeral Directors.

 Deeply mourned by her daughters Geraldine and Evelyn, her beloved grandsons Ciarán and Daire, and her neighbours and many friends with a special mention for Valerie and Shay who assisted her and the Kelly family greatly in her latter years.

“She was lovely and fair as the rose of the summer.”

Ailbe G Burns 1957-2023, son of Joan Burns, nee O'Mahony 1934-2020, died on the 9th Jul 2023. His obituary reads as follows :

Ailbe Burns of Clarkestown, Lattin, Tipperary, on the 9th July 2023; suddenly at home, surrounded by his loving family. Predeceased by his parents Edmond & Joan. Beloved husband of Amelia and father of Joanne & Ailbe (Jnr), sadly missed by his brothers Edmund, Patrick & Jack, sisters Nora (Toomey), Mary (Feane) & Sheila (Burns), son-in-law Christopher Purvis, brother & sister-in-law, nieces, nephew, extended family, relatives, neighbours, friends and of course his four legged friends Jessie & Pixie.

Reposing at Fogarty's Funeral Home, Blind Street, Tipperary Town on Wednesday (July12th) from 5.30 pm, removal at 7.30pm to The Church of The Assumption, Lattin.  Requiem Mass Thursday at 11.30am followed by burial in the new cemetery, Lattin.
