Joseph Heelan  (1885-1923) was  the  youngest  of  fifteen  children  born  in  Ballinvrina / Ballinvreana,  Emly ,  to  parents  John  Heelan Anne  Cleary,  who  were  married   in   Emly  RC   on   the  16-2-1863.  

Joseph  Heelan  (1885-1923)  married   Elizabeth  ( Eliza )  Condon  (1887-1963),  daughter  of  James Condon  &  Eliza  Blackburn  of  Cromhill,  Kilteely, Co. Limerick  on  the  17-02-1920  in  St. Joseph’s RC,  Limerick. 

John  Heelan  (1921-1986) was  their  son.  

John’s  sister , Mary  Heelan (1924-2001), married  Des Mulhall (1924-2002) , proprietor of the  Golden Thatch, Emly, Co. Tipperary

Marie Heelan ( nee )  O'Sullivan 1936-2024, wife of John Heelan 1921-1986, died on Aug 21st 2024 and was interred at this memorial on Monday  Aug 26th. Marie was the daughter of victualler Denis M O'Sullivan of Sarsfield St, Kilmallock, Co. Limerick and his wife Catherine Flynn, who were married in St Peter & Paul RC, Kilmallock on Jun 5th 1935.

Denis M O'Sullivan was the son of draper John O'Sullivan of Kenmare, Co. Kerry and his wife Mary Campion who wer married in Kenmare RC on Nov 22nd 1881. Catherine Flynn was born on Apr 13th 1911 in Knocksouna, Bruree, Co. Limerick to parents Daniel Flynn, a farmer & his wife Elizabeth ( Lizzie ) Purcell who were married in St Michael RC, Limerick City on Nov 25th 1903.

The obituary of Marie Heelan 1936-2024 reads as follows :

The death has occured of Marie Heelan ( née ) O'Sullivan of  Emly, Co. Tipperary. & formerly of Sarsfield St. Kilmallock, Co. Limerick..Marie passed away peacefully on the 21st August 2024 in the wonderful care of all the staff and management at Beech Lodge nursing home Bruree.

Predeceased by her husband John, brothers J.J. and Peter, sister in law Nora, brothers in law Seamus and Brian.Sadly missed by her beloved sons Joe, Denis and Donal, Donal's partner Liz, brothers Fr. Dan O'Sullivan (California), Pat (U.S.A.), Denis (Kilmallock), Malachy (Charleville), sisters Lily Moran (Moate), Catherine Slavin (Kilmallock), grandchildren Daniel and Shane, sisters in law Teresa and Mary, nieces, nephews, cousins family relatives kind neighbours and friends.

Marie will be reposing at Davern's Funeral Home, Hospital, Co. Limerick on Sunday 25th August from 5.30pm until 7pm. Funeral cortége arriving at St. Ailbe's Church, Emly, for Requiem mass on Monday 26th August at 11.30am and burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery..
