NB.  This  memorial  refers  to  Mary  McNamara,  daughter  of  Philip  Humphries  of  Longstone,  Cullen  parish, Co. Tipperary, who  was  born  circa  1845 and  was  a  widow  when   she  died  in  Emly  on   the  10-5-1915.  She  married  Patrick  McNamara,  a  National  School  teacher  and  a  Co.  Clare  native,  in  Emly  RC  on  the  21-1-1866.  Patrick  was  principal  of  Emly  boys  school  in  1875.

Their  children  were,  John  1867, Philip 1868-1883, Anne  1870, Winifred  1874, Mary 1876-1960,  twins  Denis  1878-1880 &  Patrick  1878-1955, Catherine  1880,  Ellen  1883-1884, Bridget  1887 and  Helena  1889.

Mary McNamara  (1876-1960)  married  William O Grady (1873-1952), son of Matthew O'Grady & Eliza Purcell in Emly RC on the 18-08-1909. Their daughter Mary O'Grady was born in Ardglass, Emly on the 14-08-1915 and died  on the 28-04-2007, aged 91 years.  She had a  shop opposite the main entrance to St. Ailbe's Park, Emly for many years. She is buried at memorial 0005.

Patrick  (Pat)  McNamara, son  of   Patrick  McNamara  &  Mary  Humphries,  was  born  in  Emly  on  the  25-11-1878 and  died  there  on  the  28-2-1955.  He  married   Mary  (Minnie)   McEniry,  daughter  of   Farranassa  farmer  David  McEniry  and  his  wife  Elizabeth  Walsh  in  Emly RC  on the  08-01-1917.  They  had  no  family.  Mary  (Minnie)  McEniry,  was  born  in  Farranassa,  Emly  on  the  26-5-1879  and  died  there  on  the  31-1-1956.  She  was  a  National  school  teacher  in  Emly  NS  and  was  known  by  the  pupils  as  Mrs.  Mac.  Her  husband,  Pat  McNamara,  was  sub-postmaster  for  some  years  in the  house  later  owned  by  Pakie  O’Neill  before  relocating  to where  the  present  post  office  exists.

 Teresa   Cunningham ,  nee  McEniry,  a  niece  of  Mary  (Minnie)  McNamara , was  sub-postmistress  here  for  many  years  before  being  succeeded  by  her  daughter  Julia  Walsh,  nee  Cunningham,  who  is  the  present  sub-postmistress.

Willie  McEniry,  son  of   John  McEniry  &  Anne  Fitzpatrick of  Farranassa, Emly  was  the owner  of  the  pub  adjacent  to  the  current  post  office  until  his  death  on  the  24-7-2013.  Willie  was  a  brother   of  Teresa   Cunningham ,  nee  McEniry.  The  pub  is  currently  run  by  Teresa’s   son  and  Willie’s  nephew,   Mike  Cunningham.

This  pub  was  once  owned  by  John  Fleming  &  his  wife  Maria (Mary)  Barry  and  later  by  his  daughter  Mary  Fleming,  who  married   Richard  O’Carroll  in  Emly  in  1912.
