John Mackey , who erected this memorial  was born in Hospital parish, Co. Limerick in Jun 1831 and died at Castlefarm, Hospital on the 8th Sept 1917. He married  Ellen Ryan (1834-1903) in Kilteely parish, Co. Limerick on the 29th Jan 1861. Ellen died  at Castlefarm, Hospital on the 28th Mar 1903.

Children born  to them were Julia Mackey (1863-1875), Mary (1865-1939), Catherine (Kate) (1868 -1947), Timothy (1871-1881) & William (1874-1939).

Catherine (Kate) Mackey (1868-1947) , married  farmer & widower William Kiely of Cauteen, Ballykisteen, Co. Tipperary on the 28th Jul 1915 in Hospital RC, Co. Limerick. She was the only one of her siblings that married.
