A  broken , fallen  celtic cross which was knocked over by the hurricane like winds of Storm Darwin on Wednesday Feb 12th 2014.

The epitaph portion of the memorial was re-erected by cemetery caretaker Jim McEniry and his son Declan on the 04-05-2020.

Martin Ryan , son of  farmer Cornelius Ryan,  was a native of Commanealine, Glengar, Co. Tipperary.  He died in Ballinagrana, Emly, Co. Tipperary on the 11-02-1932.

He married  Elizabeth (Lizzie) Hickey (1868-1947), daughter  of  farmer Michael Hickey & Maria Quirke of Ballinagrana, Emly on the 15-02-1896 in Emly RC. Children born to them in Ballingrana, Emly were Hanora (Nora) Ryan  23-11-1896,  Michael  Ryan  06-07-1899  &  Maria  Ryan 26-09-1902.

Lizzie Ryan (nee) Hickey  was born Sep 1868 in Ballinagrana, Emly and died  there on the 10-09-1947. Her siblings, of whom four males died from tuberculosis, were Elizabeth Hickey 1860, Michael 1861, John 1863-1895, Matthew 1865-1887, Edmond 1866-1894, Mary Anne 1870-1904 & Patrick 1872-1874.

Their parents, Michael Hickey died 24-01-1872 and his wife Maria Hickey (nee) Quirke died 19-09-1898
