NB. Mary Purcell, nee Quilty, born 14-5-1867 at Bruff Hill, Bruff, Co. Limerick to parents John Quilty, a farmer, and Johanna Quinlan. Marriage to Ailbe Purcell in St. Saviours, Limerick on the 9-2-1895.
Ailbe Purcell, affectionately known as Elly, was born in Oct 1859 at Knocklara, Knocklong, Co. Limerick to parents William Purcell, a farmer, and Elizabeth (Eliza) Leane. This branch of the Purcell family came to Gorteen, Emly, in 1879.
William Purcell, aged 79, died at Gorteen on the 31-5-1888. His wife, Eliza, aged 84, died there also on the 19-12-1900.
Children of Ailbe Purcell & Mary Quilty were as follows :
William Ailbe Purcell, born 8-9-1897. A bachelor, died, aged 78 on the 8-7-1976.
Elizabeth Purcell, born 19-1-1899. Married Davy O’Connell , a farmer in Glenbane. Had no family. Died, aged 68 on the 24-12-1967.
John Purcell, born 20-12-1900. Emigrated to the UK. Died, aged 62, on the 23-4-1963.
Johanna Purcell, born 10-10-1905. Known as Josephine. A spinster. Died, aged 73, on the 2-3-1979.
Mary Teresa Purcell, born 25-9-1908. Died, aged 2, of scarlitina, on the 9-11-1910.
