NB. Gothic style headstone.

NB.  The Michael Power who erected the headstone and who died on the 3RD Jan 1962 are one and the same person.

He was born in Gurteen, Emly on the 26-4-1889. Parents were Thomas Power, son of Michael Power (1819-1879) & Ann Doherty, daughter of James Doherty, who were marrie in Emly RC on the 14-04-1888.

Michael  Power  ( 1889 - 1962 )  married   Ellen  Crowe ( 1887 - 1956 )  on  the  16-02-1926  in  Tipperary  RC.  They  had  no  family.  Michael  worked  at  St. Ailbe's  creamery  in  Emly. 

Michael's sister, Mary Power was born in Gurteen, Emly on the 29-03-1891 & died unmarried of tuberculosis on the 14-01-1916.

Ellen  Crowe ( 1887- 1956 )  was  the daughter  of   James  Crowe  (   -  1934 ), shoemaker  & his wife Catherine  Carey  (  -  1906 )  of Ballynadruckilly,  Lattin    Co.  Tipperary.  Her siblings were Bridget  Crowe  1888,  Catherine  1890,  Thomas  1892,  Anne  1894,  Edmond  1895,  Jeremiah  1897,  Patrick  1899,  James  1901  &  Mary  1904.

NB. The transcriber of this headstone inscription is the present occupant of what was once Michael Power’s house in Guteen, Emly.
