Donie  O’Connell   was  a  publican  in  Emly.  The  O’Connell   family  owned  some  very  good coursing  greyhounds  over  the  years.   These  included   Factotem  and  Bauhus, who  won  the Cork  Cup in 1962 & 1964  respectively.   Blazoner  won  the  Connacht  Cup  in  Loughrea  in  1966.  They  had  further  success  in  the  1970’s  with  Dooneen   Dancer,  Speedy Air  & Coxcomb   and  in  the  1990’s  with  Classy  Fella.
