Gaelic custom of the woman keeping her surname name after marriage - Grace Connolly married to Ter (Terence) MacLoghlinn. 

The style of raised letters carved on the stone was used from 1722 to 1760 approx. and could have been carved while fresh in memory. At that period too, September was considered the 7th month. The original Roman Julian calendar was introduced in Ireland during the arrival of Christianity. Centuries later, the updated Roman Gregorian calendar officially took effect in 1752. When the stone was carved 7BER (September) was still the seventh and not the 9th as it is today
