Thomas Henry Mowbray Leader was a game warden in Canada when WW1 broke out. Returning, he joined the North Irish Horse. He subsequently transferred to the infantry, but not before escorting that regiment’s horses from Marseilles to Alexandria, for use by the Australian troops in the Egyptian desert. He then joined the newly formed Tank Corps, and was in training with the 23rd Tank Regiment when the war ended. (Source: ACR Heritage).
