Samuel Lee, a merchant in Bandon, was the son of Matthew Lee and Susannah Justice. Samuel married Sarah Emily Appelbe, the daughter of Benjamin Appelbe and Emily Jane Fuller. Samuel and Sarah Emily married on 22nd September 1891 in Cork. William was a younger brother of Samuel's who was born on 13th October, 1864 in Bandon.
